You could try a V tail design. The Control board that comes with the F-22 is only able to be used with elevrons or Ailerons and elevator. No rudder.

Yeah I have the eachine F-22. I started designing it for foamboard.

Great!! :) Do you have any ETA? Happy to be a beta builder..

Yeah... I think it's simple Ailerons + Elevator with awesome onboard gyro.. I might just make this one while yours gets released.
For the skins, do we really have to depaper the foamboard.. or could I just apply skins on papered fb? also, I would have to apply the skins before I start hot gluing pieces, right?

You can add it to the papered foam board but I am not sure how well it will fly. I need to make plans out of the model first but soon. Also I did not design it off of the EZ Raptor. I took 3 pictures of the eachine raptor and modeled it from there. If you want to use the skins you will have to modify them heavily. Also if you want to use the skins I would use the EZ Raptor.

Wish I had modeling skills like you..
I will make @Addicted's EZ Raptor with one of your skins for now :)

I can make non-complex (very basic) models with Sketchup file, I will give Fusion 360 a try.
Do you think Fusion is more suitable for model designing?
Sketchup was easier to learn. But it has limits. It is hard to design things based off of images. The curving geometry is really hard to do. In fusion it is easier to design things. At least in my opinion. You just need to figure out the basic tools then work your way up and try new things.

"The curving geometry is really hard to do" well said. I will give this a try, thanks for your input.. (y)

@AIRFORGE thank you for the plans, we've got a very happy 6 y/o over here! He used his own money to buy the Readi-Board and was thrilled it could be built immediately without waiting for a kit to ship from FT. @GrizWiz thank you for the skins, that really makes this a fun build for kids!

So happy to see this! Thank you!
You should also give the new official FT EZ Raptor a try. It is designed for the FT EZ Power Pack V2 and looks very cool!

I am thinking of giving this jet a try as my next jet, and the skins look awesome. My only question is how does adding them affect the performance? I know on my original EZ planes I got from FT, the performance was very poor until I peeled the brown paper off. I am wondering when you glue on the skins how much the performance changes.

Adding the skins does add weight and will make it fly a bit sluggish. Not terrible, but noticeable especially with the original (v1) EZ Pack.
It does fly much better with the EZ Pack v2.
Removing the paper from the inside of the parts will help.
Also, I use a thin coat of white or wood glue to assemble the parts. It saves weight.
Very light coats of paint are lighter than the skins.
Markers are pretty good for coloring, too.

On the one we just built, I peeled off all paper and used a very light mist of Super 77 to apply the skins. We printed them on standard weight paper. We’re using the EZ Pack v2 and it flies great. It is actually the fastest EZ plane we have built so far. For only $21 worth of supplies, you can’t beat it!

Thanks for the information. Just out of curiosity, did you print the skins on a home printer using standard size paper, or go to a store to print them out full size?

Based on the suggestions above, i ordered an upgraded v2 power pack (actually two, one for me and one for my son). Printed out the tiled plans, and i was surprised just how tiny this is - looks like only a 10" wingspan. I am a little confused by the mounting of the RX and battery. There are several references to removing paper on the plans, but it is not clear to me if the RX and battery actually go in a cutout area within the 3-wide foam fuselage, or are mounted outside of it. I looked through the pictures on the thread and did not see any that showed how those items were mounted.

Thanks again for everyone's help !

Yes it is tiny. ours came out at 10" wingspan too. We installed our RX in the center fuselage piece, hidden so that the skins are not interrupted on the outside pieces. I did cut out the bottom and mount the RX a little lower to make the switch and LED more easily accessible. I peeled all paper off to make ours as light as possible, and used a light mist of Super 77 to apply the skins. Some of the skins can be "pre-installed" but others are easier to do after it is assembled. Hope this helps!
