Bush Plane Build Challenge II

I would say if you wanted max flight time to go as large as you can without making the plane too heavy, and without spending more than you wanted to, if it was me and I was doing normal FT C-sized, I would do two 2200mah or two 2700mah.
I definitely agree. A couple 2200 3s packs is enough to give you lots of flight time while also keeping the plane light enough. You would be surprised by how much handling can change by just adding a single extra battery, that’s why I probably won’t add more than 2 for this year.

Sorry, I mean if you don´t have ailerons you need at least 4 degrees for a high wing.
With 6 degrees dihedral is good enough to fly rudder only, no need to go much more than that.
oh well ok. thanks for the help. I jst watched a video about dihedral wings (armin) for the noob tube by ed from ea, and it said 30 there so that is what I did

For the landing part I'm going to be using two 4s 5000mah in parallel which will give me essentially a 4s 10000 which is going to give me VERY long flight time and the weight won't be too noticeable on a plane that size. For the weight lifting though, I'm going to use a 2200mah 6s and then load that baby down till she breaks haha.

For the payload challenge mine's going to be on a 4s 4000 hehe

So I have been away from the building process for a few days as I cut my right index finger at work and had to get 5 stitches so tonight was first night back at it . Got the DHC-2 Beaver off to a good start , everything fit , straight and square . if tonight was any indication this should come together pretty quick as I've probably built this 100 times in my head already over the last three days

Have you enlarged the tail surfaces from the original plane? Maybe it's just me and my tendency to way oversize tails but they do look a bit small.

So I worked my plans from a 71" balsa model and scaled it back to a 44" wingspan , tail surfaces are plenty big , when i overlay a template of the real plane over this they are larger, think I'm good there . I did widen the wing though from what I had originally scaled

I had a dewalt 20v battery that quit on me. Threw it on the sand pile behind my shop and shot it. Of course it burst into flames but the crazy part is that ruptured the remaining cells one at a time about every 10 min. That thing burned about 40 min!

Did that stop me from flying with puffy batteries? Heck no! 🤣 but i do have a nice battery bunker to charge the sketchy ones and fireproof storage at least 🤪

I should probably make/get my own battery bunker. That sounds like a lot of fun to watch!
