Well I got all the pieces cut out and trying to put it together as best as I can given the pics posted on here.. also next to my e-flite 1.2m P-51 for a little size comparison

I'm part of that forgetful club 😆 They help me with my thoughts during designing that I'd surely forget when build time came. Let me know if you have any questions on the build, I'll help out however I can!

Almost all done, except for the painting which may have to wait a long time till we get some warmer weather. Pardon the current patchwork foamboard color scheme- I've got decals from Callie to do a Franz Stigler version.

Overall? Great plans- very detailed and thoughtful! Things like creating some airflow with the underwing radiators. Solid hatch design. Lots of space for batteries and such. Flaps. Wing tubes for running wires. Easy access to all of the servos. Lots of cool features like that.

I would have liked to have slid the motor back in just a little more, but the firewall got in the way. I used a Gator RC vented spinner to help with airflow. I also added a front dowel to the leading edge. I'll cover it with hinge tape to protect the spackling- once it's painted, you can't tell there's a dowel there. The canopy is just a practice one; I've got a pilot coming from MotionRC in a week or two to fit inside and will probably redo it at some point.

Bwarz, you thought of everything with these plans. Thank you. I can't wait to get it in the air.

I was expecting to see a foamboard canopy when I read that. That one already looks awesome! Looking forward to seeing how you'll do one even better.

Successful maiden! Maybe a little too much throttle (~50%) at launch made things interesting at first, but then seemed to fly really well. I've got a 3000 4S battery in it. Not much aileron authority- go ahead and turn the rates up. With flaps down, it will slow down to a crawl.

I guess now I need to figure out how to heat the garage so I can paint it.

I'll start assembling the glider tomorrow. There will be no keel control. Flaperons in this size are not needed : they add extra weight . I will exhibit photos in 2-3 days of assembly . Every day I allocate 2 hours for modeling.

A little information about the fuselage: the front part is 5mm thick, the rear part is 3mm thick. The relief will be made by a heated metal tube , this will increase the strength . The stabilizer is made of 2 elements with a thickness of 3mm and sanded.The keel is made of 2 elements with a thickness of 3mm and sanded.In the keel there is a bamboo skewer with a diameter of 3mm.

I never finished mine, I still have all the parts, I just got sidetracked cause I got myself a 3D printer and 3d Printed a BF109 lol, but its a little sketchy to fly it and I already crashed one, dont want to destroy my second one so I think ima pull the parts out and finish it. but that 109 you built looks beautiful!

wow that turned out beautiful! The maiden looked great too (my launches suffer from the same left tendencies - a friend suggested a bit of right rudder for takeoff. I always get so nervous at launches I forget the suggestion and they all look kinda like yours 😆 🤣)

I usually have my thumb ready for lots of right aileron till everything straightens out. Next time I'll go with less throttle as well (~40%) and see if we can get a prettier launch. Again, thanks for sharing your plans. It was a crazy fun build.

I finished working with the fuselage. The motor frame will be made immediately with a 2.5 degree slope to the right and glued. I am waiting for servos with a metal gearbox of 9 grams, a motor and a 30 amp regulator. I will cover it with colored tape with an iron - this will give additional rigidity to the structure.

Dear model developer. It seems to me that the fuselage patterns should be done without cutouts under the wing at the first stage. Assembling a fuselage with a wing is very difficult, even for me, who has assembled more than 60 models. Then make a cutting under the wing according to the pattern of the actual resulting wing profile. How the assembly is glued:Rudder + elevator into the short grooves of the fuselage frame -there is no understanding.. Maybe the author will shoot a video on the assembly of this part of the model? I finished assembling 2 half-wings from 3mm foam.I want to get a flight weight of up to 500 grams.
The project stops before receiving a parcel with servomechanisms from China.Have a good flight to everyone.

You have a point if assembling with material other than the 5mm DTFB. it's been mostly spot on except for a bit of the leading edge curve which I can't recall if I corrected or not in the plans. The angle of attack is quite important if you don't at least give yourself a reference line of the wing from the spar back. I'll have to do a bit of remembering for the hstab-vstab install and get a note on here....

it doesn't spell it out exactly about installing the hstab-vstab assembly but it does detail the rear fuselage assembly prep for things if this helps or not. If not I'll get a look and maybe a video if I can next week

Your model turns out to be very beautiful and approaches the copy. I am describing the construction of your model on the Russian website . In principle, the tail boom of 5mm foam turns out to be quite rigid and if I make a second copy, I will abandon your tail design of the amplifier in favor of the P-51 solution (flite test). I advise you to finish the drawing for the manufacture of a separate wing and a separate fuselage.This simplifies manufacturing for inexperienced modelers who dream of repeating your model. You have done a great job by selflessly creating this model and it popularizes aircraft modeling in the world.
