I'm going to use a 5V regulator to power the receiver and servos. The
Pololu D24V50F5 will handle up to 5 A, so it should be plenty.
I soldered it up, covered it with some heat shrink, and attached it to the
PDB I'm using. I added a ziptie around the PDB to give some strain relief to the battery connector.
Then I could solder the ESC to the PDB and mount the PDB with some velcro and test everything.
Once I tested to make sure everything was working, I mounted the various parts in the bay with velcro.
