Hey guys, is there someone who has built this plane and is willing to post a picture showing the battery cover and its functionality?

I built Alps corsair and it was pretty anemic on a c-pack motor with a 10x6 prop. This build looks to be of a similar larger size as compared to the typical FT model like the Spitfire so I think you would need a bigger motor.

The wing is just glued in place in the fuse cutouts.

Thanks I'll beef up the power... I plan on building the Corsair next too. I think I'm gonna try to make the wing removeable for easy transport and access to the electronics.

That's amazing!
How did you make the graphics?
I cut Pieces of the same poster board I used to cover the model into 8.5x11 sheets and ran them through my printer, then just cut and taped them to the model... the group of logos on the side was printed as once piece after I grouped them together in photoshop. this way i only have to tape on one big piece rather than 20 small ones. same with the wings, team logo and aircraft number on the tail. just tried to keep it as simple as possible.

My buddy has a vinyl cutter so he's gonna cut me the Aeroshell logo for the bottom of the wing and top of the wing... I also just realized I put the wing logo on the wrong wing... lol, I can just cut it off and move it

My Texan build is coming along, but have a couple questions about the power pod. I see on revision 1.1 a shorter power pod with a B fold. Is this available in a tiled file to print on 8.5 x 11? Also, is a thrust angle required for the suggested 2836-1100 and 10 x 5 prop?
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff, I believe his power pod is the same as FT’s but just cut off after the first set of tabs. That is what I used on Alps corsair and it worked well. I would definitely go with a few degrees of down and right thrust.

Thanks jpot1, I appreciate the feedback.

Hi all, I thought I would resurrect this great thread because I have a question. I'm building this AT 6 for my wife. She got to fly one years ago to celebrate breaking 1000hrs as a pilot. How do you make a canopy for it. Id love to make a clear canopy but I don't know if I can make a plug and do vacuum forming. This is my first scratch build right from printing out the plans. This is a great new facet of the hobby for me. Thanks for any help.

Flylots,

I asked the designer of this model that same question about one of his other designs, when he was still active on the forum. Here is his answer:

Thanks Jaxx, I've been looking around and still haven't found a great way to do this Texan canopy. I wish Alp had described how he actually made his Texan canopy, it sure looked really nice.

After building the wing and attaching to the fuselage, I realized that landing gear had not been considered. Figured that a wood reinforcement on the inside of the wing was a good idea, so drew up a plan right on the bottom of the wing and grabbed a knife. Beveled cuts were used to add strength to the cut out pieces. 13/32” birch plywood was hot glued to the inside of the cut outs, then reinstalled into the wings. The landing gear was bent out of 0.105” spring temper stainless steel wire and glued in per standard FT practice.

Thanks for the nice words Peter. The plane was painted with Ace Hardware brand Sunshine Yellow Gloss spray paint. I really like their spray paints. I always treat the dollar tree foam board with minwax oil base polyurethane before painting. I just wipe it on then wipe off the excess with a paper towel before spraying the paint.
Hi, Which minwax polyurethane can do you use? I googled but found 3 types.
